Introduction |
| Local Walks in and around: St Dogmaels, Poppit and Moylegrove | ||
This small corner of West Wales boasts some of the finest stretches of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path as well as some delightful inland scenery. Cardigan Bay, on the coast of which the walks are situated, has been designated an area of Special Area of Conservation due to its dolphin and seal population. The dunes at Poppit Sands are also an area of Special Scientific Interest hosting, as they do, many varieties of Orchids and other wild flowers, whilst the Teifi Estuary is a favourite place of bird watchers. The Coast Path stretch from Cemaes Head has also recently been designated as a nature reserve. The area is blessed with many clear and well-maintained footpaths forming a delightful network and covering a variety of landscapes. As such it is a wonderful place to settle and explore. You will never be far from the coast and every walk will afford you a view of either estuary or sea at some point. Inland there are views of the Presli Mountains and many lovely lanes, tracks, meadows and woodlands to explore. I have gained great personal pleasure from these walks, and hope that this collection will inspire others to discover the outstanding beauty of this area. I would like to thank St Dogmaels Footpath Group, Pembrokeshire Council and Pembrokeshire National Park for their work in opening and maintaining footpaths. If you have found any of my walks to be inaccessible or altered, or have found my instructions to be wrong or misleading please let me know.
